The Pine Creek started to cut this gorge before anyone ever referred to it as
the Pine Creek Gorge, let alone The PA Grand Canyon.
Long before it was filled with rafters and fly fisherman, it was known only by the bobcats, deer, bears, eagles and other wild life of the region.
The Senecas were known to have used the gorge as a path between The Susquehanna and Genessee Rivers.
In 1883 it became a railroad bed and was used as such until 1988.
Now it's a beautiful trail perfect for a leisurely scenic bike ride.
Road from Ansonia to the Rattlesnake Rock parking area where you can enter the Southern Terminus of The West Rim Trail just below Blackwell.
Turned around and made it back to Ansonia before sun down.
A beautiful 38 mile roundtrip.
